Piano Safari is a complete method that doesn’t *need* extra music, but I like to use a variety of books with students to enhance reading skills. I believe it’s important for students to see various engraving styles to enhance their reading.
In Level 1 of Piano Safari, students learn how to read seconds and thirds on the staff. Reading on the staff is learned on a treble or bass staff, not the Grand Staff. Reading is then reinforced on the Grand Staff with the help of finger numbers.
Once students can play a piece on the Grand Staff in Piano Safari (such as Bingo), it’s time to try some more pieces!
