I recently completed two violin workbooks in the Ready for Theory® series. I worked with a colleague on the project who teaches both piano and violin. She loved the Ready for Theory® Piano Workbooks and wanted to have a comprehensive workbook for her violin students as well. When beginning violin students learn note names, they are introduced one string at a time. Some notes in the range may have an accidental, so it makes it difficult to use a note naming app to drill note names. To give beginning violin students the opportunity to drill note names, I created a Violin Note Speller. Now beginning violin students can have plenty of note naming practice!
In the Violin Note Speller for beginners, notes are introduced one string at a time. Each string includes several pages so that students can have ample practice to drill note names. After students master the notes for each string, there are even more review pages with the notes for each string mixed. The Note Speller for beginners includes a total of 26 worksheets.
Purchase of the Violin Note Speller includes a PDF file of all 26 worksheets and an answer key. Once you receive the files, you can use and print them as much as you’d like! If you’d rather not print out the Note Speller for each student, you can use the worksheets on an annotation app. Click here to read a post about how I use worksheets on an iPad with students.
Here are a few sample pages from the Violin Note Speller:
